By now you may have heard or read that exactly as we predicted two years ago that Pinewood Studios has failed to get planning permission to expand in South Buckinghamshire. It was Pinewood Shepperton PLC Board and not us, who said that this expansion was vital for The British Film Industry. In fact they spent £6 million pounds emphasising the message.

Now it is defeated. The South-East greenbelt is safe. It was an unrequited love. A doomed romance.

The true hero, the West Midlands and the rest of The UK waits in the wings. We know Pinewood Studios will love us and be very  happy with us. We will conquer the world together.

We seek only the expansion. We seek to make Pinewood Studios as beloved and as secure as The NHS in Britain. We seek Iver Heath to remain the HQ. We seek jobs there to be more secure not less.

Now Pinewood Shepperton’s planning application is refused , the film manufacturing sector will finally expand out of the South East Only club.

However it will be more secure in Iver Heath at the same time.

We aim for a minimum 15 acre site in every county in The UK.  Initially linking Pinewood Studios HQ in Iver Heath to The West Midlands along the M40 and M42.

Indiana Jones and Star Wars were made on a 15 acre site. So every county gets the tools to do the job but each can be part of THE PINEWOOD STUDIOS brand. Every Region’s Regeneration and Lottery money can be in the Pinewood coffers.

The proposed 100 acre major state-of-the-art bold brilliant Pinewood Studios expansion can be done much bigger, much better and with sounder finances in The West Midlands.

Pinewood can build their sets, theme parks, trade on big scale tourism, be close to The Shakespeare tourist industry in Stratford-on-Avon and if need be assisted by West Midland regeneration finance.

Gisela Stuart MP ia a good person for Pinewood Shepperton PLC Board CEO Ivan Dunleavy to contact. Gisela Stuart MP will  call for a relocation of the expansion to Longbridge tomorrow, now planning permission is firmly refused South Bucks. Many other MPs will echo the call and there are several West Midland sites which are suitable for future expansions.

This will shore up longterm job security in the HQ and heritage site of Pinewood Studios, Iver Heath.

Pinewood can plan bigger in The West Midlands, Black Country and then around the UK to build The Pyramids, sci-fi sets, Beijing, Moscow, Tokyo, Washington, whatever is in demand for film and TV production.  BUT crucially do so within The UK rather than take jobs to cheap labour, cheap land in China and Malaysia.

Finally Pinewood Studios will be a British brand able to take on and maybe one day takeover Coca Cola, McDonalds, Sony, Disney, Fox, anyone.

The Pinewood Studios mothership will still be in Iver Heath along with the beautiful community and greenbelt land.
A feel good, nay feelgreat ending. Justice and freedom at long last. Finally a genuine British Film Industry.
……and a vital victory for EVERY greenbelt in South-East England.
