When Pinewood Shepperton’s planning application is refused tomorrow, the film manufacturing sector will finally expand out of the South East Only club.

 

We aim for a minimum 15 acre site in every county in The UK;  initially linking Pinewood Studios in Iver Heath to The West Midlands along the M40 and M42.

 

Indiana Jones and Star Wars were made on a 15 acre site. So every county gets the tools to do the job.

 

The proposed 100 acre  major state-of-the-art bold brilliant Pinewood Studios expansion can be done much bigger, much better and with sounder finances in The West Midlands. 

 

Pinewood can build their sets, theme parks, trade on big scale tourism, be close to The Shakespeare tourist industry in Stratford-on-Avon and if need be assisted by West Midland regeneration finance.

 

Gisela Stuart MP will call for a relocation of the expansion to Longbridge tomorrow once planning permission is refused. Other MPs will echo the call and there are several West Midland sites which are suitable.

 

Our aim is for Pinewood Shepperton PLC to think bigger and become as visible in the UK as The NHS. Then Pinewood Studios will be similarly loved and more secure in public finance should they ever have a few lean years.

 

This will shore up longterm job security in the HQ and heritage site of Pinewood Studios, Iver Heath.

 

Pinewood can plan bigger to build The Pyramids, sci-fi sets, Beijing, Moscow, Tokyo, Washington, whatever is in demand for film and TV production BUT do so within The UK rather than take jobs to cheap labour, cheap land in China and Malaysia.

 

They can attract in any TV and film production in any language offering the full list of sets, sound stages, post-production which any financier may require.

 

Finally they will be a British brand able to take on and maybe one day takeover  Coca Cola, McDonalds and Sony.

 

The Pinewood Studios mothership will still be in Iver Heath along with the beautiful community and greenbelt land.

A feel good, nay feelgreat ending. Justice and freedom at long last. Finally a genuine British Film Industry.
