007, Daniel Craig is to star in the Jim Sheridan psychological thriller entitled “Dream House“ BUT despite being at Pinewood, this is their CANADA studio.
Surely this will have a Canadian or American director insisting it is North America ? No. It is Irish Jim Sheridan in the director’s chair. Surely Pinewood are choc a block in The UK at their three studios. IF ONLY….IF ONLY…
The more Pinewood expands into EVERY continent, and especially cheap land and cheap labour in Malaysia and Canada, THEN the sooner that the projects and employment will exodus The UK.
According to an article on HollywoodReporter.com “In ‘Dream House,’ Craig plays a man who moves his family to an quaint town, only to discover his house is haunted by former inhabitants who were murdered there.’”
While Craig is accustomed to shooting his Bond films at the Pinewood Shepperton studio located in Britain, for “Dream,” Craig is staying within the Pinewood Studio family and will begin shooting the thriller from January 25 to April 9, 2010 at the Pinewood Studios located in Toronto.
Pinewood Studios, which is a major British film studio, merged in 2001 with Shepperton Studios, the other leading British film production location creating a monopoly which is only allowed if it acts in The British national interest.
The HollywoodReporter.com article then delves more into the specifics behind the unification of the two top British film studios, “As part of its five-year sales and marketing pact with the Pinewood Studios Toronto investors, Pinewood Shepperton the British studio giant earns fees based on the revenue performance of Pinewood Toronto Studios, which is steadily filling up since Ontario recently sweetened its film tax credit for foreign producers.”
Bond 23 as Charles keeps reminding me starts shooting next year. Part of it could be filmed in Birmingham if certain things are put in place in time, and some of it will be done in Iver Heath at Pinewood Studios traditional home, BUT increasingly this can just be the post-production. Most of The 007 routine film jobs can be in Canada, Malaysia and China much quicker than you think. Daniel Craig will certainly be familiar with the factory lads in Toronto.
Meanwhile one of our team is having to work hard to get certain requested documents to MPs about The British bid to “persuade” Pinewood Studios to expand within the UK not outside The UK.

Precisely. Toronto is 3500 miles away. Birmingham under 100. Of course Birmingham is too far BUT China, Malaysia, Canada very much nearer.
