Well in 1605 Guy Fawkes and the plotters tried to blow up Parliament with gunpowder. It has been celebrated in many ways for over 400 years with fireworks. Spectacular plot but highly unsuccessful. Our man in the field who has to be in Parliament on November 5 hopes just for an efficient, successful, sober businesslike meeting with concrete specific news to follow.
It does amaze us that Pinewood Board almost seem more eager to expand anywhere than in The UK if they fail to get their coveted greenbelt planning permission in South Bucks. They almost seem to prefer Iraq or Afghanistan than Birmingham. Curious.
By the way we will be wearing a poppy in Parliament and urge you to buy yours. We will not forget. Our fight to get a fair playing field for British based film-workers (who choose to live In Britain and may or may not be British) continues but we know our freedoms were won for us by “the finest generation” in every Continent. Every nation had brave heros and heroines who defied a global dictator, who risked their lives to save or shelter others. We salute and honour you.
Latest Update
By now you may have heard or read that exactly as we predicted two years ago that Pinewood Studios has failed to get planning permission to expand in South Buckinghamshire. It was Pinewood Shepperton PLC Board and not us, who said that this expansion was vital for The British Film Industry. In fact they spent £6 million pounds emphasising the message.
