Archie Norman new Chairman of ITV is negotiating to move Coronation Street from its present site (visited by Royalty and political leaders) to Media City in Salford owned by Peel Media (John Whittaker of Peel Holdings). For good measure ITV Granada are going to join BBC North in Media City if John Whittaker prevails in negotiations with Archie Norman.
Then there is the small matter of John Whittaker being the 27% owner of Pinewood Shepperton PLC with The Daily Mail and FT mooting he will go for a takeover in months. James Bond, Jason Bourne, Batman, Indiana Jones, Superman, The Mummy and Coronation Street’s Ken Barlow …perchance all in Media City in The North West ?
As we keep telling you, we live in fluid interesting times and The Government should be pro-active. The public and British luvvies might suddenly wake up.
John Whittaker may like Cubby Broccoli (casket making to 007 movies), Arnan Milchen (chemicals and fertiliser industry to PRETTY WOMAN), Ed Pressman (toy manufacture to PLATOON, WALL STREET and CONAN THE BARBARIAN) and Harvey Weinstein (LORD OF THE RINGS, PULP FICTION) become a businessman turned born again film producer.
But it can not hurt for The Creative Industries Minister (Sion Simon) and Culture Minister Ben Bradshaw, and Parliamentary Select Committee on Media and Culture (which is The High Court of Parliament) to find out what is going on. It might even be good new, even very good news. But we do not know and they should know.
Perhaps they read our emails and even The Guardian, or The Stirrer website. They might wake up.

Bryan Gray, the chairman of the site’s developers, Peel Media, told The Guardian that: “I can confirm that we’ve offered ITV a package.” The soap will celebrate 50 years of production at the Quay Street complex in December.
Reports last year also speculated that the BBC may be planning to move EastEnders from its backlot in the former ATV Network Elstree Studios – now BBC Elstree - to a new location, possibly the Pinewood Studios which were famously home to the Carry On movies. Both proposals to move locations come with the advent of high definition television and many older sets don’t stand up to the improved picture quality.
