‘Skyfall’ becomes the first 007 James Bond movie to beat $1 billion at the global box office with China still to come.

‘Skyfall’ has now passed $1 billion worldwide at the global box office and the China release is still to come.

The total box office take will probably end up as USA $300 million, rest of the world $900 million of which the UK will probably end up providing $170 million.

Love it or hate it, you can not ignore the box office prowess of the 007 brandname (even if this was more of an action film than 007 film).

The UK box office and UK DVD revenue plus TV, online and merchandising can yield over $300 million and thus finance almost any budget movie provided that the producer can get the movie into UK cinemas. This is not so easy and Jonathan Gems is the man to read about this. The UK is the only cinema market in the world which does not defend domestic invested product.  All the profit from 007 Skyfall will be leaving the UK. It is not being recycled here. The 007 owners could choose to make future 007 movies outside the UK, and other than a few actors, there is no certainty that this 50 year brandname will ever employ British based workers again.

Still this is a time to celebrate The Birth of Jesus Christ, who created the world and then entered His own Creation to rescue it. Creating the world is real creativity.
